Member(s) of the Month – October 

These two have been going strong for a while now and have no plans on stopping. 
There are thousands of amazing athletes out there. Specifically in our sport, the sport of Crossfit. There are plenty of Games-level athletes whose strength and intensity in a workout we all admire. But the ones who really stand out, stand out not just because of their unfathomable capabilities and strength, but because of their outstanding character. We are lucky enough to have 2 of these type of athletes in our gym. Shelly and Michael are not only 2 of our strongest and most capable athletes but they are also 2 of the greatest people we know. Athletes like Rich Froning, Dan Bailey and Andrea Ager are not known just for their amazing accomplishments on the competition floor, but for the message of which they preach. A message of kindness, selflessness, commitment, and positivity. Shelly and Michael are a huge blessing to our gym. They are BOTH our member of the month this month. Not just because choosing between them is harder than choosing which kid you love more, but because they symbolize what we at Swink believe represents our whole ideology: FAMILY.

Side note: Ryland was already member of the month, so while he is included, we didn’t want it to go to his head by showcasing him again. 😉

“We moved to Midlothian from Dallas in August of 2015. This is where Shelly grew up, Michael is from Grapevine. We have been doing CrossFit since June 2012 and we have loved/hated every minute of it. We always made it a point to drop in at Swink every time we would come to visit. This place is second to none. I literally think we officially became members of Swink the day we moved here. Our son Ryland, who turns 2 this December, gets extremely excited to go to Swink and see his friends every day. (You know “Ahnae” who is definitely his most favorite person, “Me”, “Betty”, “Geg”, “Freva”, “Jo”, “P” and “Tistan”). Swink has been an incredible blessing on our lives and we are thankful for everyone we encounter there each day. We Are Swink.”

That’s one strong couple right there. 

What’s your favorite thing about Swink?

Shelly: The people. 

Michael: The people and the feeling you get when you walk in the door. You feel at “home.”

What’s your favorite movement/workout?

Shelly: Anything that involves running. 

Michael: “Grace”

What’s your least favorite?

Shelly: Overhead Squats

Michael: Squat Snatch

What’s your favorite clean meal/snack?

Shelly: Grilled chicken and veggies with a sweet potato. 

Michael: Grass fed lettuce burger topped with tomatoes, pickles, bacon, jalapeños, guacamole and sweet potato fries. 

What’s your favorite cheat meal?

Shelly: Mexican food 

Michael: Chick Fil A

What advice would you give to someone new to Swink?

Shelly: Just keep consistently coming because showing up for class is the hardest part. 

Michael: Check your ego at the door every single day.  No one is better than anyone else, we are all here for the same reason….to live a longer, healthier life.
